Chinese (Mandarin )as a foreign language ,it has been recognized as one of the six major languages used for communication by United Nations and steadily becoming more and more important and popular around the world as the growing importance of China.Our school hence has developed a great Chinese programme since its establishment in 2000,which provideseach studentoutstanding Chinese curriculum and enjoyable Chinese learning atmosphere. To ensure learning efficiency andstudents proficiency in Chinese, the Chinese Programme generally set to be three sections as below so as to appropriately suit students.

Programme Introduction

• Chinese Native Speaking Class(for native Chinese speaking students basically );
• Chinese as a Second Language Class;( for non Chinese speaking students )
• CSL Class (expedites students’ learning as quickly as possible to ensure the students in CSL Class reach the standard of our regular Chinese courses)

Our Chinese Programme derives its international standard from the education system in Singapore. Our Chinese textbooks are endorsed by the Ministry of Education in Singapore and officially registered as being a suitable basis for delivering our Primary Programme. Besides, a wide range of Chinese books and other resources are provided by our school to our students, together withorganizing lots of Chinese culturally relevant activities to support the Chinese curriculum.

Chinese Learning Assessment System

The major types of assessment for Chinese learning that we apply every academic year are HSK test, YCT test ,The Petchra Yod Moongkut Chinese Bridge Competition as well as mid-term and final examinations. Those assessments have proved to be very effective processes of developing and supporting students’ active participation in their Chinese learning for greater learning achievements in Chinese.

The HSK and YCT test were launched by Hanban(Hanban Institute is a public institution affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education, is committed to providing Chinese language and cultural teaching resources and services worldwide)in an effort to better serve Chinese language learners.It is an international standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese languageproficiency.The test is the result of coordinated efforts by experts from different disciplines including Chinese language teaching, linguistics, psychology and educational measurement.

• Primary students of a high year in our school can enter for the Chinese Language Proficiency Test known as HSK (HanyuShuipingKaoshi).
• Primary students of a low year take participation in the Youth Chinese Test (YCT).  

The Benefits ofHSK Certificates:

i. signifies its holder has acquired the requisite level of Chinese proficiency to enter a college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student;
ii. exempts its holder from taking various Chinese language courses (depending on the level of certification);
iii. Provides employers with a basis to evaluate the the Chinese language proficiency of job applicants.

The Petchra Yod Moongkut(Top Crown Diamond) Chinese Language Competition. This project was established in 1998, is conducted jointly by the Office of Primary Education Commission (OPEC)( renamed OBEC in 2004) , Romchatra Foundation ,Trimits WittayalaiSchool Confucius Classroom, Suan Sunandha Rajabahat University, Tianjin Experimental High School and Trimits Wittayalai School, it is Subsidized by Pra Thep Pavanavikorn , an abbot assistant of Trimittsyaram Temple .

Our Chinese teaching staff

Our recruiting process is designed to select carefully qualified teachers, all of our Chinese teacher are from China, hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in education .They are highly –qualified, experienced and expert in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. They are enthusiastically committed to develop and create a dynamic Chinese learning atmosphere that is full of fun, happiness and passion for all of the students, helping them for greater achievements and successes in the future.
