Page 1 of 4 Roll over Beethoven “Every child having the opportunity to play a musical instrument.” This is one of the goals Karl Meneghella had when he took up his appointment at Nantawan earlier this year. Himself an avid guitar player, Karl wanted to see a opportunity where all children had a chance to discover the pleasure of music. This week every child received their very own recorder. Added to this, teacher Patrick is including the recorder in his music classes! So the goal of having music in the hallways is becoming a reality. Some people dismiss the recorder as a very ‘simple’ instrument, however, the musical theory children learn, the development of fine motor skills and increased dexterity, and of course, musical performance, are all transferable to other musical instruments! It is hoped that the ‘music bug’ will bite, and that our children will pursue even more instrumental music such as piano and guitar as they gain confidence and increased ability
