NIS’ SECONDARY SCHOOL An exciting development at Nantawan this new academic year is the introduction of a Secondary section to the school. Our first intake of Grade 7 students are enjoying the foundation of a course of study that will lead to internationally recognised IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) qualifications, as well as national Thai examinations. The students follow a curriculum that sees Science divided into Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There is a Ministry of Education requirement to study certain subjects that continue from Primary, but the teaching focus reflects the needs of Secondary learners. Students are encouraged to develop a greater awareness of social issues, both locally and globally. Secondary students are made aware of the extra responsibility they have as role models for the younger children and they assist teachers in running activities. They also play an important part in formal, whole-school functions. Students take these duties seriously as they impact on their general attitude to school and study. They also derive benefit from a programme of field-trips, which will expand as the Secondary School grows.Timetable for the Secondary Section |
