In the NIS primary section our aim is to follow up on the preparation work previously made in the Kindergarten department. In the primary section we run a 70% English Program so that students may benefit from an immersion in the English language. As well as using English as a means of communication and instruction in the core subjects English, Mathematics, Science, Art, PE (Physical Education) and Computer/IT, the students are also encouraged to use English during break and lunch periods and anywhere within the school campus. We have specialist subject teachers for all English medium instruction and students benefit from and excel with a truly international background of learning. We also offer an excellent quality of Chinese and Thai instruction with specialist subject teachers so that our students receive a quality trilingual education. NIS is also very proud to be a recognized Cambridge accredited institution starting with Cambridge Examinations from grade 2. In the primary section we start to introduce the students into our new colour house system, to enable students to learn the qualities of teamwork. We are also able to combine this with our new pink points system so that children can see the importance of effort and good behaviour.

 

The primary years are broken into two key stages of development. Firstly the Lower Primary grades 1 – 3 where we are able to introduce the students’ to a new style of schedule, with an immediate increase in the use of our international program. Children are able to study their core subjects in the English language medium of instruction which will further develop their all round language skills. An international style curriculum in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Art and Computer / IT is introduced at this stage in order to better prepare them for their Upper Primary studies.

Our Upper Primary grades 4 – 6 develop not only the skills in their subject learning but start to develop their life skills to better prepare them for the intensive learning in the secondary program.
