Why choose Nantawan International School?

  1. NIS is the only international school in Samut Prakarn offering a structured curriculum of English, Thai and Chinese [timetabling allocations are English: 80%; Chinese and Thai: 20%] that follows internationally recommended imported textbooks. The delivery of this curriculum by qualified, expert native-speaking teachers ensures students derive benefit from the most advanced educational methods and are exposed to authentic pronunciation, expression and syntax.
  2. Our Chinese Programme is carefully streamed to ensure that each student enters and progresses at a suitable level. We offer 3 levels:
    • Chinese as a Mother Tongue (for native Chinese speaking students);
    • Chinese as a Second Language;
    • Chinese for Beginners.
    • All students thus learn and improve their Chinese at a standard appropriate for them.
  3. A similarly tiered structure is used in our English and Thai Sections, thus ensuring that all students follow language studies at a suitable level and develop proficiency accordingly. The upshot is that our students have the opportunity to master a superior level of English, an excellent standard of Chinese and an outstanding command of Thai. This gives them a significant advantage in their higher studies and career choices over other students who lack the opportunity to acquire proficiency in all three languages.
  4. We administer an English Speaking Environment to ensure that our students practise their English in and outside the classroom.
  5. All students receive a full diagnostic assessment upon enrolment to ensure optimal class placement. This is complemented by regular academic progress monitoring throughout their studies at NIS to ensure each student is in the most suitable level class for each subject in each medium of instruction.
  6. NIS is registered as a Cambridge International Examinations centre and is authorised to deliver the Cambridge International Primary Programme.
  7. Our Thai Curriculum is based on Royal Thai Ministry of Education guidelines for international schools.
  8. We provide a high level of pastoral care for both Thai and foreign nationals among our student body. Every child’s welfare is of the utmost importance to us.
  9. The grounding we provide students in both academic and social development ensures that their potential for university, whether in Thailand or abroad, is maximised.
  10. Graduates from NIS are competent in English, Chinese and Thai languages, equipping them for an excellent future both in Asia, as well as globally.
  11. The school consists of modern, purpose-built, child-friendly constructions situated in a quiet, peaceful, clean and secure area away from the hustle, bustle, commotion and pollution of downtown Bangkok but still easily accessible via the highway system. Its proximity to green fields and canals offers students a congenial and serene learning environment.
  12. The school has state-of-the-art security and safety systems for children and teachers to ensure their protection and welfare.
  13. All classrooms are air-conditioned and have state-of-the-art equipment and resources.
  14. Our class ratios are small, thus ensuring individual attention for all students. This assists them psychologically by enhancing their confidence as well as promoting their academic interests in both daily studies and examination preparation. The personal care all students receive in classes is complemented by the pastoral role played by their class teachers, who maintain close liaison with parents to ensure a co-ordinated approach to our child-centred philosophy.
  15. Students are encouraged to excel not just in lessons but also in pursuing extra-curricular interests as part of NIS’ holistic approach to education. NIS is accordingly equipped with various specialist classrooms (e.g. for Art, Music and IT), a swimming pool, a gymnasium and an outdoor football pitch. These facilities help develop students’ characters, their team-building and leadership skills and their practical faculties in conjunction with their academic knowledge and skills.
  16. NIS’ al fresco refectory offers healthy and nutritious food as well as opportunities for the development of social skills through the house system (which determines seating patterns). Students are taught the importance of personal hygiene and refuse clearance as part of their eating skills.
  17. We are pleased to offer full or partial boarding for students at our Canal House dormitory (situated on the School campus).
