During the week of 17-21 August 2009, the whole of the Primary and Secondary school went to a huge Science Fair at the Impact Arena, with Grades 4 – 7 attending on Thursday and Grades 1- 3 on Friday.

The customary traffic jams to get on the Expressway made for a long journey to the venue, where there were hundreds of buses waiting to disgorge their passengers.  Arena staff attempted to marshal the assembled throng, but with little success, and it was a further forty-five minutes in the baking sun before we finally reached the blissful cool of the entrance hall.

From there, students and teachers dispersed to the various halls, where a wide variety of exhibitors, ranging from the British Council to The Ministry of Defence, had set up displays and activities. Particularly popular was a demonstration of how to make aerodynamically superior paper planes, which children needed little encouragement to participate in. A stand selling simple model planes also did a roaring trade.

Sadly, there was not time or space to do the whole exhibition justice and we had to return after only a couple of hours. The students behaved impeccably throughout, often under difficult conditions, and they were a credit to the school.
